I'm an American writer who until recently was living full time in Mexico, where my Spanish has greatly improved with lots of practice. In the recent photo in the logo, I'm chatting with a young shopkeeper. I really love being able to have animated conversations with Mexicans on virtually any topic... and believe me, my Spanish grammar is FAR from perfect. The Mexicans don't seem to mind my mistakes.

Currently president of Hartworks, Inc., I'm a former public-library librarian, and so I have a lot of experience in evaluating books, programs, and other sources of information, for their effectiveness. For this site, I've also done research on how adults learn languages.

I make a commission on many of the programs reviewed here, usually only if you click through from my link before purchase. This is one reason you will see glowing "reviews" all over the internet for some of these programs. My opinions are not for sale for a few bucks. If you are sceptical about that, read more of the website, to get to know me better. I have a blog about living in Mexico, with photos (mostly taken by my husband) and video.

 Much of my motivation for creating this website, LearnSpanishRapidly.com, is that in Mexico, I have met (or overheard!) so many foreigners who don't really try to learn Spanish.

Not only are they missing out on lots of interesting or useful conversations, but in emergencies they may be in real trouble. Even though a lot of Mexicans speak at least some English, knowing how to speak Spanish is a vital skill in my eyes.

And with some work, just about everyone really CAN learn Spanish fast!
